I have not abandoned this blog!

I have 3 blogs I try to update regularly: this one, my fitness blog, and my art blog. My art blog suffers the most, then this one, but the fitness one is just easier because it's mostly just logging my running and weight loss.

I would love to update this more often, but right now, it's just so hectic. I mentioned in my last post that we are moving back to Savannah in December. Right around Liam's and my (30th!) birthdays. Joel left to move back down early for work. It's been 3 weeks, and let me tell you, this past 3 weeks has been ROUGH: emotionally and physically. I feel bad because I think the only time I really get to breathe easy and relax a little is when I'm (supposed to be) working, like now. And that's the time when I'm not with Liam. How bad does that sound?

Well, MOST of the time when we are at home is FINE. He is great at home (by himself). But it's the times when we go out to his gym class or to meet up with friends is when it gets crazy. Trying to run after this kid is what drains me. I literally have to run after him because he will hit someone if I don't anticipate his every move. And now, poor guy, I think that EVERY move he makes toward another kid is going to be an aggressive move. Neither of us can have fun in situations that are SUPPOSED to be fun and social. :(

I read that when a child hits someone, it's his way of showing interest because he just doesn't have the experience or know the proper skill to make contact with others. They are curious and find the reactions of others intriguing. (from this article: http://www.ivillage.com/hitting-when-your-toddler-hits/6-n-146051) I know it will take lots of time and interactions with other kids to fix this problem.

And MY current problem is that I have to do this by myself. I know it won't be permanent, but these last 3 weeks have been the LONGEST weeks ever. And I have another THREE ahead of me. Someone save me please! Without Joel here, I feel incomplete (as cliché as that sounds). I could really use a drink most of these nights, but I don't want to drink alone. I don't have the energy to put into creative projects or other outlets that would distract me otherwise. I can't even run in the evenings anymore because it gets dark so early!!!

Oh well. Three more weeks of dealing with this by myself is NOTHING. Single moms/dads do this 24/7. I have no right to complain! I am thankful for everything that I DO have... a healthy SUPER-SMART kid (more about this in my next blog post), my parents and grandmother who watch Liam FOR FREE while I blog... or I mean, while I WORK, how they have had this time with him and have been able to watch him grow, my awesome supportive friends and family, a job that gives me flexibility...

breathe in, breathe out, breathe in...

Edit: Decided to leave 1 week earlier... we are moving back the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Halloween 2011

Liam and Scarlett - Halloween 2011
(Peter Pan and Tinkerbell)

Liam and Scarlett - Halloween 2010
(Little Devil and Little Angel)

And just in a nutshell, October was a busy month with lots of stuff going on.

There was the wedding, then the vacation in Savannah, then we went to Hershey Park the following weekend (some photos were up on my FB and will be up on the Shutterfly pretty soon) and then we had to deal with Joel moving back down to Savannah, leaving me to single-mom-it until we move back down as well (in December).

It's been quite rough since he's been gone. I really admire and applaud all the full-time, single parents. I realize I depend so much on Joel with Liam, especially when we go out. I feel like I'm back to the neurotic newborn stage, where I get anxiety when going out in public with my kid, but for different reasons at this stage (and luckily it's not as bad!). Liam's just a handful and wants to get into everything.

Liam and I went to Panera after his gym class last Saturday. I ordered us a bunch of stuff that a normal person would probably need 2 hands to carry. The cashier asked if I needed a hand, to where I replied that if I just stuff certain things in my diaper bag, I can probably carry it all (I was holding Liam in my right arm). But she insisted that a busboy help carry my tray and he also led me to a free booth that he just wiped off... I didn't even have to ask about the booth! I was touched by the help they offered and very thankful! (Go Panera!)

I've scheduled Liam's 2-year well check for the week before we plan to move back to Savannah. I also had to schedule an appointment for him for tomorrow because he's been sick with a cough and runny nose for the past week. It seems to be getting a lot better this week, but my dad just went to the doctor and they told him he has a mild case of pneumonia, so I wanted to get Liam checked to rule it out. Just to be safe.

Hopefully I will start posting more often again. We shall see... Happy November!
