My appointment was bumped up to last Friday. Everything looks fine... um, except for my weight gain...haha. I'm not gonna say how much I weigh...well, I don't mind sharing, but let's just say that by the end of this, Joel and I might be the same weight! Doc was sympathetic, as she gained a lot with her first pregnancy as well. She just said to use portion control. Which is not hard to do now because I think I'm past the whole stuffing-my-face phase!
I also talked to her about the sciatic problems I've been having and she referred me to a physical therapist. I should be going in this Friday. She showed me some stretches that have helped so far, but also said that it will only get worse from this point on.
Next appointment is on Friday the 2nd of October. Then the week after that we are off to DC! Woohoo!
We went to our day-long childbirth class last Saturday and it was really informative... maybe too informative. It was a lot of stuff to process, but a lot of good info. Lots of scary stuff, i.e. the level 4 episiotomy! But also lots of important stuff. We also got to tour the Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby units at the hospital.
I've also been reading to Liam. I bought the new Dan Brown book last week and we've gone though a few chapters together already. I think he likes it because he moves around alot when I read and rock/glide in the glider in his room.
Other than that, I am still growing larger day by day, and it's harder to get up out of bed due to the cripple leg and the added weight!!
Weekly accounts of my pregnancy to birth and life with a new baby to toddlerhood!

27 and a half Weeks: New (crappy) symptoms
I'm alone right now in my hotel room in Atlanta. Tomorrow I finally go back home! Woohoo!
I've had lots of time to myself to notice things and well, I've noticed stretch marks!! ACK! I've got them on the bottom of my belly and they are bright and RED... very sexy! And today, went to fold up my pant legs before getting out of work today (it's bein raining really hard here) and I noticed that my ankles are swollen! More swollen on my left ankle then my right. It looks like I sprained my ankles. :(
Also, my sciatic nerve is seriously bothering me. It began as mild discomfort in my left leg only, but now it's seriously bothering me. Well, I can still walk, but I have to get up slowly and it's hard to put weight on one leg (either one) without it hurting. I really feel crippled. I thought walking would do the trick, but I walked for 20 minutes on the treadmill last night, stopped to tie my shoe, when I tried to step down, I felt sharp pain and just had to sit on the treadmill for a moment.
Then last night, I had a really bad heartburn as soon as I got comfortable in bed (in the Westin's Heavenly Bed!). I had to force myself up with my bum leg bothering me and grab the Tums out of my purse. I ate about 4 of them and sat upright for about 15 minutes. Then I tried to get back into position. I must have been asleep for 15 minutes when I woke up again and experienced what I believe to have been Braxton Hicks contractions... I think. I felt really crampy all of a sudden and almost felt like I had to puke. It was a like a wave of once, and then it happened again shortly after. Was it Braxton Hicks? Or was I just having stomach issues?
Ugh... if this is just the beginning of the 3rd trimester... I am totally not looking forward to it! I can't wait until December!!!

27 Weeks: Baby Shower
The rest of the shower photos can be viewed here:

The shower yesterday was great! Got to spend time with family and great friends and it was a really nice time! Special thanks to Tracy who organized the event! Liam received a lot of presents and his nursery is looking more complete! Thanks everyone!
My sisters just left today and we are just chilling now watching some football. I might take a nap before I get everything ready for my week ahead in Atlanta. I still need to schedule my prenatal massage sometime soon.
My sciatic nerve is bothering me in my left leg. I feel really... immobile. We were downtown last night and I took the stairs up to the 5th floor of the parking garage... man, that really tired me out. I walk like a crippled person and can't move as fast!
Next week is the next Doctor's appointment and our day-long child birth class is next Saturday.

26 Weeks
Nothing new to report this week... I have been feeling the effects of "Preggo brain" lately...forgetting things and all that. I've been having sinus headaches too. No fun.
I've got 2 baby showers coming up in the next week, one with my peeps in GA on Saturday and the other will be up in Atlanta when I go up there for work from Monday to Thursday. They have me at the Westin! Swanky!
THEN...the following Saturday is our day-long Childbirth class and Hospital tour at Candler.
And the Monday after that is my next doc appt. Woohoo!
I'm looking forward to this weekend because my sisters will be coming up for the shower! Just have to get through the next 2 days of work! (...and I have to clean the house before then, too)
Joel surprised me last week with a gift certificate for a prenatal massage. Thank you, dear husband! I think I might schedule it for after I get back from Atlanta. I'm sure I will really need it by then!
I was going to try to post a photo of big ME and the belly, but every time I think about it, I'm in my PJs and looking really rough/gross... maybe I'll get a good one this weekend and post it next week.

25 Weeks
Just about 3 months to go. I really, really, REALLY can't wait!
My monthly checkup was last Wednesday. I did the glucose screening. The solution I had to drink was actually pretty good! It tasted like Kool Aid. The technician was surprised at how fast I drank it. I told her I was really thirsty and it was pretty refreshing! At this office they don't call you back if everything is OK, only if they find something abnormal. I didn't get a call last week, so I called yesterday just to see what I got and it turns out that the screening results and the hemoglobin test came back normal and I didn't have to do anything else. Phew!
Liam seems to be moving around a LOT lately. I've been feeling major kicks and punches. He also likes to kick on my bladder, which is not very comfortable.
I went to dinner with a few friends last night and got a few tips from my "veteran" mom buddies. I want to try this one that Jen L. did while she was preggers: she played a musical toy every night on her belly when she was pregnant with her daughter. She did this at 5 months pregnant up until birth, so that her daughter would recognize the the music outside of the womb. So whenever her daughter would cry or be fussy, she'd play the music from the toy and instantly, she'd calm down and stop crying! I'd love to try that. I have to find something this weekend...
In other news, my appetite has calmed down and I'm not eating (too much) stuff I shouldn't be eating. I still get headaches, but they don't bother me as much. I have trouble putting on socks and shoes from a seated position. Thank goodness for flip flops!
