I've neglected this blog for a while now. I've been so busy and tried from all sorts of work - not just the day job. I miss sleep.
Anyway, I guess I can go over the things I can remember over the past few weeks...
Liam had his 18-month check up a couple weeks ago. He seems to be right where he needs to be in this stage of toddler-hood. He got a shot this time and didn't cry again, but he did fuss when the nurse asked me to hold him down while she administered it. That kid just doesn't like to be held down for anything. He won't sit still or stay in one spot for longer than a minute. I can't remember what else they told me, but everything seemed normal and good. His stats were: 33.5" Height (75-85%), 29lb 14oz (95-98%) and 19" head circumference (75%). Still growing!
Some notable developmental things:
- Liam is talking up a storm these days. He is forming his own sentences now from words he has learned. Like, "Get green ball" or "Marshmallow please mama". It's really amazing. He will try to mimic long phrases that we say, but will usually end up sounding like a mumbled interpretation. He also knows and can say a ton of words. He knows just about all the animals (and animal sounds) and vehicles on his flashcard sets. He can identify a football, soccer ball, baseball, golf ball and basketball from each other. He knows blue, green, red, yellow, purple and pink... but he will initially say that everything is blue before even looking at the item.
- Liam can say his name now! Although it sounds more like "mee-um" or sometimes he will stick his tongue out to make the "L" sound, but sounds more like "luhum" (one syllable). L's are pretty tricky at this age!
- He is also getting very picky with food. He will only take a few bites of something during each meal and refuse any more. But to make up for it, he is drinking a lot of milk at least! It doesn't seem like he's starving, so I try not to worry too much.
- He is starting to wean himself off the before-bedtime milk sippy. It has been a part of his routine since we even started a bedtime routine. We offer him the cup while getting ready for bed. He used to drink the entire thing and sometimes asks for more. But recently, he's just been taking a couple sips and giving it back. Good for us, so we don't have to try to brush his teeth right before he passes out anymore!
- We broke out the potty chair for him to try. Of course we are not expecting him to start using it anytime soon, but I figure if it's there, he can try to figure it out. We keep it in the bathroom and sometimes I let him come in with me if I have to do a #1. He'll open his seat up and sit on it and say "peepee, poopoo" and then get up and flush the big toilet (before I am done). So he knows what it is for... he's just not ready to use it.
- He's still wearing some 18 month clothes, but his wardrobe consists of mainly 2T. He's wearing a size 6 shoe. I need to get him new shoes. He is also still in size 5 diapers, and size 6 overnight dipes.

| Getting ready for the train ride around City Island |
We just got back from a fun and relaxing weekend visiting Joel's Aunt Lisa and Uncle Mark in PA (a short 2 hour drive). We chilled at their house most of the time, but we also got to visit a cool playground and a place called City Island which was a little island with a ballpark, putt-putt golf, trail around the perimeter, among other neat attractions. We got to ride a train that went all around the island. Liam seemed to enjoy it. He was also VERY well behaved for us during the whole trip. No meltdowns or anything. He even slept well through the night. He loved Uncle Mark and gladly read books and played with him, even without either Joel or I in the same room! Amazing!
I posted plenty of photos up from the past few weeks, feel free to check them out.
