Preggo Perks!

A few weeks ago I logged onto Aetna's website to check on how much the maximum deductibles were on our insurance... Good stuff to know, so that we know how much we need to save up for this delivery in December! (FYI, according to the online calculators, I am due on the 13th of December... days after my 28th bday!)

While I was logged on, I saw that there was this survey for pregnant women to fill out. I went ahead and did it and then it gave me a link to a PDF of helpful hints throughout pregnancy.

Yesterday, I got this book in the mail! It's huge! It's as big or maybe bigger than the ubiquitous "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and it's written by doctors! It's pretty good, so far... Anyway, it turns out that I got this for free because I filled out that survey on Aetna's website! Sweet! A $22 book ...fo' free!! Good stuff!

What else can preggos get for free??? heehee

Buy Stocks on Saltines

Breakfast today: Saltines and decaf green tea
Snack: Saltines and apple juice
Lunch: more saltines maybe some fruit and yogurt... if i can stomach it

This is the first bout of morning sickness I think I've felt so far. This is "Week 6" (in quotes because that is going by online calculators). Not wanting to hurl or anything, but just a general queasy feeling that won't go away. Too sickly to eat any real food, which sucks because breakfast is my big meal of the day when I fill up on all the good/nutritious stuff (usually). Do they make whole wheat saltines?

Also, I had a paranoid moment yesterday. I went for a jog during lunch hour...nothing hard at all, I think it took me 40 minutes to do my normal neighborhood loop (about a 5K distance, usually takes me around 30 mins), got back and stretched, then ate some yogurt and drank Metamucil (old folks fiber supplement that I usually drink before runs...). A few minutes after I ate the yogurt I felt these terrible cramps I've never felt before in the lower abdomen, but more towards my back/butt area. I had 2 waves of this, panicked and went to the bathroom. LUCKILY, all it was were BM cramps. lol I looked online to research miscarriages and it said that symptoms are period-like cramps with blood - the latter I did not have.

I also found this interesting article on exercising and pregnancy:
https://www.back2basicstraining.com/2009/03/10/exercise-and-pregnancy/
Basically saying that exercise is not harmful for preggos, just don't push yourself to the max, which is obvious. It also says that a preggo body has ways to impose its own limits and adapt. It also tells of a woman who did a Duathlon (run-bike-run) in her 5th month of pregnancy! Definitely an interesting and reassuring read.

April 4, 2009: We're pregnant!?!?!

After the last month's duds, I still had a couple tests left. Decided to just wait until the day before my period was supposed to start... That morning, I felt kinda crampy, so I figured it was just my period coming. Then after about 1 minute after "administering the test" (the box says to wait at least 3 minutes for results), the result popped up to my surprise. I called Joel into the bathroom for him to see for himself. Shock and nervous laughter from both of us!! haha I took the 2nd test about an hour after I ate breakfast and, BAM! it was another positive.

The following Monday, I called to schedule my first OB appt, which will be on May 6th. Hopefully I won't kill it by then! eeep. What a morbid thought! (Sorry)

Symptoms so far: gassiness, fatigue, slightly tender boobs. Also irritability (from not being able to treat my migraines with my usual meds).
