20 Weeks: It's a BOY!

It's a BOY!
This photo shows the view from the baby's butt. The 2 bright lines are the legs/femur bones and those connect at his butt (on the left), and the little "turtle" (as the technician called it) in between the legs are the little boy parts!

These are other various views of the baby from my last appointment which was on Friday, July 24.

I can't even remember many details of the morning because it was so exciting!

We picked up Shonna and her unborn child, whom I like to call "Johanna" (the name we used to collectively call the 2 of us: Jacy + Shonna = "Johanna") from the airport on Thursday night. Then we all woke up bright and early to head to the doctor. We got the nicer of the 2 sonogram technicians (thank goodness!) and we headed on back to the room...

... I got situated on the table and the lady did her magic with the wand and my baby appeared on the screen! Apparently he was asleep when we first started because his heartbeat was around 127 bpm. Then he must have felt the wand poking him which caused him to wake up and and do some punching that we all saw on the screen. She checked measurements and fingers and toes, etc and then asked us if we had any thoughts on what we were having. Joel said that he didn't see a 3rd leg, so he wasn't sure yet... but then she moved the wand around a bit and showed us the "3rd leg" on screen... a BOY! Woohoo! I was so happy. I could have burst into tears! haha

Then from there, we saw all other views of the little baby boy... she said he's positioned with his head down and legs up! Near the end of the scan, his heartbeat was in the 140s... mostly a blur of things because I was so caught up in the moment. Maybe his heart started racing because mine was going pretty fast too!

Back to the waiting room... for about an hour until we were able to see the doc. But during that hour we were all able to make a couple calls and send texts, so that kept us occupied!

When we were finally called back, I got weighed and I gained about 5 pounds since the last appt (roughly a 9 lb. weight gain so far). The doc told us that everything looked good a this point and so far it looks like I have a healthy baby boy growing in my belly! Shonna says that I'm growing a penis! Which is technically true!! LOL :) And for now, since we have not decided on a name, we are calling him "Johann" which is just the male form of "Johanna"!

Next appt is on August 26, when I will have the glucose tolerance test done, which I hear sounds FUN! (not)

Dual belly shot! Preggo belly POWER!

The rest of the preggo weekend was baby-fun-filled! We ventured around Hilton Head and walked on the beach and shopped. Auntie Shonna bought "Johann" some of his first baby clothes and shoes!! So cute! Then Saturday, I treated the both of us to a preggo spa day (thank you for the discount Steph!) at the Greenbriar Spa. I need another one of those massages. (Can I put massages on the baby registery?) And Sunday, we drove up to see Diana for her baby shower...she is due in September! And Sunday night I had the greatest, longest sleep I've had in a while... :D It was fun being around my preggo BFF all weekend! Yay!

When I got home today, we went to buy the paint for the nursery and cleared out that room finally. Pallavi is coming to help paint! Woohoo! Should be fun! I'll probably post pics of the room next time.

More again soon. This post is long!

19 Weeks: Friday is the day

First, a cute pic of me and Snorty in our matching shirts! haha... and you can sort of see my 19 week old belly.

Thank you, Tracy, for your comment on my last post. I just wanted to say "Amen!" after it! That was great supportive advice!

So the countdown to Friday begins. I've got a busy week ahead (Shonna coming into town, Ultrasound/Check-up, traveling up to see Diana, Pallavi coming into town, painting the room, and then possibly the yard sale -- may have to be pushed back to Aug 8, now) so my excitement levels are through the roof!

I went preggo bra shopping this past weekend. My first "REAL" preggo clothing purchase! (TMI alert) They measured me (twice) and from the sound of it, I was obviously wearing the wrong size bra beforehand. I told them I normally wear a 36 A/B, and the ladies measuring me looked at me funny because they measured (now) at 34 E. "E", really? I knew I was bigger but, looking down at "the girls", I didnt' think they'd be up that much. (sweet!) Being a smaller girl normally, I didn't even know cup sizes could go up that high! (The lady next to me was looking for H-cups!) I actually fit better into a D cup (with a little room to grow), so I bought a couple of those and an additional sports bra and a sleeping bra -- of which I can wear all day, it's so comfy!

A few new symptoms to report as well: very frequent bathroom visits (if I just drink a sip of water, it triggers a pee-break... not looking good for a roadtrip this weekend!), eyes drying up easily when I wear my contacts, increased appetite, and (TMI alert) um... "stuff" that requires me to buy pantiliners... which they say is normal to happen at this point -- very annoying.

Also, I am STILL getting headaches on a daily basis, but now it's not limited to only during lunchtime, I can get them when I wake up now too, so I know now that it's not from a food trigger. Also, I've still not felt much movement down there as of yet.

Next post will be the boy or girl post! (If all goes as planned!)

One more week

Less than a week until Shonna gets here! Yay!

One week until the ultrasound where we find out the sex. I'm still not feeling nervous yet, don't know why...

I just wanted to let you all know that as much as I have expressed my strong desire to have a boy, if or when I send you that text or give you that call to tell you that I am having a girl, it's not going to be a joke. (If it's a boy, then hell yeah!! That definitely won't be a joke) I don't want you to think that I'm upset or disappointed...I'm sure I will be a bit at first, but it was meant to be what it is and I have accepted that!

But if it is a girl, then I will have to leave it up to my 2 dear sisters to try to give our parents a grandson! HA! The pressure will be on YOU!

18 Weeks

First of all, I know some of you might have had problems commenting on my posts, but I think I might have fixed that to where you don't need to be able to sign in, but you can post anonymously. Hopefully that will work!

Anyway, I'm just past the 18 week mark. The belly is definitely staring to show now, I should probably take a pic soon. And also, I MAY have started to feel some "quickening", but I'm really not sure. I sometimes have feelings of stomach grumbling - like how your stomach feels when you are hungry - but down in my gut. Not sure if that's what it is supposed to feel like, but I get that sometimes. Or maybe that's just the baby trying to say that he/she's hungry! haha

I totally didn't do any more clearing out in the future baby's room this past weekend. My afternoon headaches make me lazy and I just want to sleep. My goal is to have most of the junk cleared before Shonna comes down on the 23rd because after I get back from our road trip, Pallavi is coming and she's supposed to help me paint the room! Woohoo! Then maybe I'll be on track for the August 1st yard sale date...

17 Weeks

I am 17 weeks and 2 days today.

I think I look and feel the same as I did when I took the photo of my "bump" a couple weeks ago (so no more photos yet!). I'm still waiting for some visible belly growth, but I still just look like I chugged a 12 pack of beers!

And I'm also waiting to feel any early signs of movement ("quickening"), which the books say you can start feeling as early as 13-16 weeks. Nothing yet! They say it could feel like gas or butterflies or whatever.... In the mornings I lay and try to focus to feel something, then I think I do, but then after I get up, I realize that it is just gas!!! LOL The doc says I probably wont feel anything until 20 weeks.

I got more maternity clothes from my wonderful sis-in-law, Valerie. Spanks alot! Woohoo! Also, room clearing is still in progress. Yard sale is tentatively set for August 1. Got too much going on during the weekends, and this weekend I still won't be ready.

Shonna told me about this nifty pillow called the Snoogle. It's a curly maternity pillow that you can rest your head on, lean against and stick between your legs all at the same time! I found one for $40 on walmart.com, I'm so getting one soon!
